Plus Size Wedding Gown Guide - Shop by Shape

 by: Jane Clark

Plus size wedding gown, shopping doesn?t have to be traumatic. Shopping for your plus size wedding gown can be so much easier if you know in advance which styles will flatter you. Dress Slimmer on your Wedding Day with Body Fit and Style. The following is an excerpt from Plus Size Bridal Guide.

Hourglass Figure - Also called X shape, Curvy Shape: You have the easiest shape to dress. You can call attention to your waist. Soft fabrics are very flattering to you. If you are tall, your defined waist creates balance. If you are short, you may want to de-emphasize your waist a little so you don?t look chopped in half. You would accomplish this by wearing a plus size wedding gown with vertical lines that curve in at the waist instead of a dress that has an actual, horizontal waistline. You are curvaceous. Celebrate it!!!!! The hourglass figure can easily wear ball gown, sheath or a-line style wedding gowns.

Rectangular Figure - Also called H Shape, I Shape, and Straight Shape: Because your silhouette is straight up and down, you would want to create waist definition with vertical lines that curve in. Princess seams work well for you. Fitted bodices with a slightly dropped waist, Basque waist or v-waist work well for you, as well. Anything that gives the illusion of a waist without a horizontal line at your waist will work well for you. Empire waistline is your friend. You can wear sheaths, empire style, raised waist, a-line, Basque waistline, dropped waist. Avoid gathered or heavily pleated fabric at the waist. If you are in the upper plus sizes, you might look in evening wear and look for a white beaded gown in the tunic and skirt style.

Apple Figure - Also called O Shape, Circle Shape or Round Shape: This is the most difficult shape to dress. Your figure is visually larger or wider above the waist and narrower around your hips and thighs. Think vertical lines. Avoid anything that creates an actual horizontal line at the waist. Some a-line in the skirt is ok if it falls in a nice, soft drape. No crinolines. Avoid gathered or heavily pleated fabric at the waist. Empire style and soft drape a-line styles are your best choices. If you could find a two piece gown with a straight skirt and a tunic style top, this would work very well for you. You might look in evening wear and look for a white beaded, lace or crepe gown in this style, especially if you wear the upper plus sizes and just not feeling comfortable in any other style.

Pear Figure - Also called A Shape, Triangle Shape: Wonderful pear shaped women have a waist ? sometimes a tiny waist. You can wear bodices that are fitted and defined. You can even have a gown with a horizontal line at the waist. You can wear a-line or anything that flares out. A fitted bodice that comes to a V in the front elongates your slim upper body and makes the skirt just flow over your hips and makes them disappear. Sometimes, however, a pear shaped woman can have very small or sloping shoulders. You may need to add some small shoulder pads (fabric store) to hold the shoulders up. Avoid straight skirted gowns. They will pull across the hip area. And you may read somewhere that empire style works for pear shape, but I disagree. Empire style hides your greatest asset ? your little waist. A-line, defined waist ballgown, or Basque styles will look great on you.

Making Your Baby?s Clothes Last!

Making Your Baby?s Clothes Last!

 by: Kirsten Hawkins

As any mother with a young child will tell you, babies grow very quickly. So for new mothers, making the most out of baby clothes is of the utmost importance. So what do you do when those onesies just don't quite snap anymore? How do you get an extra month out of those jeans that are a little too short for the winter months?

The great thing about onesies, is that they're a very workable cotton fabric, and there really isn't any hemming necessary to turn a couple of onesies that fit at five months into a couple of shirts that fit at eight months. Simply cut them off right at the leg holes, and gently pull the material around the edges so that it rolls a tiny bit. This way there are no exposed threads for baby to pull at or chew on. The same can apply to footsie pajamas. By simply snipping off the feet, you can easily get another month's wear out of the sleepwear.

Velvet - The Fabric Of Fall

Velvet - The Fabric Of Fall

 by: Catherine Olivia

The history of velvet is somewhat fuzzy, but the first English reference to it was in 1278, when a king's tailor purchased the fabric in Paris for the kings bed. More than 700 years later you don't have to be a king to afford to wear velvet.

You're seeing it everywhere, in every shade. Carefully created into dazzling jackets, dresses, handbags, boots, pumps and flats. You will find velvet this fall in an array of rich, deep colors like navy blue, emerald and red, meant to make a fashion statement. You can't be shy and wear velvet this year!

Alice & Olivia offer a velvet military jacket in navy with leather piping. Nanette Lepore offers an embellished velvet jacket in muted shades with a peacock feather print. Moschino is showing a dress saluting the paisley craze. It's a lovely cognac velvet halter dress with a medallion print. One of the standout velvet creations this season has to be the...

Pregnancy Photography - Tips For The Belly!

Pregnancy Photography - Tips For The Belly!

 by: Heather Hart

These tips have been provided by Heather Hart of A La Mode Photo who specializes in natural environment, pregnancy, family and pet photography.

1. Find a friend.

Since you are the model, you need someone who has a few hours to dedicate to you and your Belly!

2. Try using a camera with real film and not digital. Go to a camera store and ask for professional black and white film - avoid going to the local market or drugstore for your film - there is a big difference! Ask for 125 speed film - there is less grain. And everyone always looks so much better in black and white - try it, you may like it!

3. Wear natural make-up - a little base and accent your eyes! Since you're shooting outdoors, keep it light!

4. Choose a place outside! A local park with trees always works nicely. Make sure that the background where you are shooting is also nice. Be careful of trash...

Celebrating Your Curves In A Plus Size Bikini

Celebrating Your Curves In A Plus Size Bikini

 by: Chirsty Diaz

Who said bikinis are only for the tiny? Even full-figured women can look perfect for the beach or pool in a well-fitting plus size bikini. Remember that even the thinnest woman has aspects of her body that she would like to change or hide. With these expert tips, you can find the perfect plus size bikini that will flatter your figure and camouflage what you find less than ideal.

Work With What You Have

Take a good look in the mirror and decide what you want to cover and what you want to show in your plus size bikini. If you have great legs, look for styles that are cut higher on the leg. Halter-top styles look good on large busts and provide the necessary support. Tankinis work wonders on covering tummies, and boy-cut shorts can hide less than perfect thighs.

Choose a Pattern

One of the best ways to minimize and camouflage in a bikini is to choose a large colorful...
